Head of our Atlantic and Indian Ocean Regional Center, Vicki Ferrini, has been selected from a pool of over 400 nominees as one of the “Explorers Club 50: Fifty People Changing the World the World Needs to Know About.”  The EC50 was established to not only reflect the great diversity of exploration, but to give a voice to these trailblazing explorers, scientists, and activists doing incredible work.

The judging panel was composed of twelve esteemed international Explorers Club members, who were tasked with selecting the candidates who showcased work involving an outstanding, innovative, and impactful mode of exploration and who inspire the greater understanding of the world around us. Vicki has been recognized by this iconic organization for her leading role in the work of The Nippon Foundation-GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project, and for her wider groundbreaking work as a senior research scientist, ocean geophysicist and geoinformatics expert.

Also selected for membership was Seabed 2030 Strategic Advisory Group member Dawn Wright, who is a leading authority in the application of geographic information system (GIS) data to ocean and coastal science.

Congratulations to both members of the Seabed 2030 team; we are grateful to have you on board!
