Bjørn Halving

Bjørn Jalving has a M.Sc. in Engineering Cybernetics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He started his career at FFI, the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment, on development of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV). Bjørn was responsible for the control, mission management and aided inertial navigation systems, and heavily involved in system design and pioneering AUV use in applications as detailed seabed mapping, naval mine hunting and marine research.
In 2006 Bjørn Jalving started in Kongsberg Maritime. He has headed the AUV unit and later the Subsea division that among many activities included multibeam echo sounder and sub-bottom profiler product lines. Bjørn is now Senior Vice President Technology in the Sensors & Robotics division in Kongsberg Maritime as well as for the Kongsberg Group. In 2014 he received the Compass Distinguished Achievement Award from the Marine Technology Society for his long career and achievements within AUV technology.
