Dr Kilaparti Ramakrishna

Dr Ramakrishna is a Senior Advisor on Ocean and Climate Policy to the President of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. He was the Senior Advisor to the Executive Director at the Green Climate Fund until the end of December 2020. Prior to this over a period of eight and half years he lived in South Korea serving the United Nations and the Green Climate Fund. At GCF he was the Head of Strategic Planning, at the UN, he was Director of United Nations Office for East and North-east Asia of UNESCAP. Other experience with UN includes five years with the UN Environment Programme where he served in various roles including as the Principal Policy Advisor to the Executive Director and as the Senior Advisor of Environmental Law and Conventions. Dr. Ramakrishna was also deeply involved in the work of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change right from the time of its establishment in various capacities as a Coordinating Lead Author, Lead Author, Review Editor etc. both with its Special Reports and Assessments. He taught at several law schools in the United States including at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Harvard Law School, Boston University and Boston College Law Schools, Brandeis, and Yale Universities. Dr. Ramakrishna is a life member of the US Council on Foreign Relations.
