Dr Yulia Zarayskaya

Dr. Yulia Zarayskaya is a freelance research scientist, whose research interests lie in ocean mapping and seabed geomorphology, with main study areas including the Atlantic mid-ocean ridges and Russian Arctic shelf. She has participated in 9 scientific expeditions to Arctic, Antarctic, Indian and Atlantic Oceans.

Alumna (Year 6, 2009-2010) of the Nippon Foundation/GEBCO Postgraduate Certificate in Ocean Bathymetry at the University of New Hampshire, Yulia was co-leading winning GEBCO-NF Alumni Team during the Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE competition for autonomous seafloor mapping in 2016-2019.

She is a member of the Editorial Board of the International Bathymetric Chart of the Arctic Ocean (IBCAO) since 2012 and of the Sub-Committee on Regional Undersea Mapping (SCRUM) since 2019.

Yulia completed her PhD in 2016 at the Geological Institute of Russian Academy of Science.
