Vicki Ferrini

Head of Atlantic and Indian Ocean Center

Vicki Ferrini is a Senior Research Scientist at Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO), an Adjunct Oceanographer at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) and an Affiliate Associate Professor at the Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping at the University of New Hampshire. Her research and expertise is at the intersection of geoinformatics and seafloor mapping. She has participated in more than 20 expeditions mapping shallow water and deep-sea environments around the world. Her work is focused on making marine geoscience data Finable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reproducible (FAIR), and she works on multiple projects that support complimentary aspects of the data life cycle in support of open data and open science. In 2020, Dr Ferrini was named one of the inaugural members of the Explorers Club Fifty – fifty people changing the world that the world needs to know about.

Vicki holds a PhD in Coastal Oceanography from Stony Brook University, USA.
