As part of our Regional Center’s efforts to engage with local stakeholders, the Atlantic Indian Ocean Regional Data Center and the African Alumni from the GEBCO Nippon Foundation Training Program are co-organizing a Special Session at the 11th Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA) happening in Mauritius on July 5th 2019.

The session is entitled “Cascading the GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project towards a Regional Coordination Approach to build a Bathymetric Map of the WIO Region” and has two main goals:

  • Understanding the status of bathymetry mapping in the WIO Region
  • Identifying gaps and needs of stakeholders in terms of bathymetric data
