The Nippon Foundation of Japan has provided funding for GEBCO to train a new generation of scientists and hydrographers in ocean bathymetry. The 12-month course, leading to a Postgraduate Certificate in Ocean Bathymetry (PCOB), has been held at the University of New Hampshire, USA, since 2004.

Applications are now being sought for the 21st year of the Training Program, to begin late August 2024 (pending funding to be confirmed end March by The Nippon Foundation).

Access the preliminary application form and find out more about the course here.

The closing date for applications is 15th April 2024.

Since it began, the course has attracted scholars from around the world — creating and strengthening GEBCO’s links and gathering local expertise from all regions of the world. The course graduates continue to make a valuable contribution to GEBCO’s work.
